About The Event

In one sentence, 5G is best described as "anywhere, anytime, anyone, anything." It enables unlimited access to information and the ability to share it with anybody, at any time, for the benefit of people, businesses, and society. 5G is now here, and worldwide operators began deploying new 5G networks in early 2019. Furthermore, 5G phones are being commercialized by all major phone manufacturers. And soon, even more people may be able to use 5G.

5G wireless technology is intended to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity and increased availability. 5G networks will also help power a significant rise in various use cases such as autonomous self-driving cars, extreme real-time communications (tactile Internet, augmented/virtual reality), improved user mobility (high-speed trains), critical lifeline services (first responder services), ultra-reliable communications (remote eHealth monitoring), massive Internet of Things (IoT), providing the infrastructure needed to carry massive amounts of data, allowing for a smarter and more connected society.

Along with the immense advantages, 5G technology has several challenges, including frequency bands, coverage, cost device support, security, privacy, and availability. Many innovative ideas have been developed and explored in recent years to make 5G and beyond networks a reality. The major key enabling technologies that have been proposed for 5G system are millimeter wave, small cells, beamforming, massive MIMO and full duplex.
