About This Course

The Chargeman AO program is structured to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of electrical principles, safety standards, regulations, and practical applications. The curriculum is designed to meet the requirements of the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) in Malaysia, which regulates the Chargeman AO certification.

Learning Objectives

  2. Electrical Theory and Principles: Gain a solid understanding of basic electrical concepts, including Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws, and various electrical components.
  3. Electrical Wiring and Installation: Learn to design and install electrical systems, including selection of appropriate equipment and materials, according to Malaysian Standards (MS) and international regulations.
  4. Electrical Safety and Protection: Develop the ability to identify potential hazards in electrical installations and implement appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents.
  5. Malaysian Regulations and Standards: Gain knowledge about Malaysian electricity supply regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  6. Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance: Learn to conduct routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical installations to ensure their safety and reliability.
  7. Troubleshooting and Fault Diagnosis: Acquire skills in identifying, diagnosing, and rectifying faults in electrical systems.

Prerequisites

Mandatory Requirements by Suruhanajaya Tenaga

  • Must be a Malaysian citizen
  • Must not be less than 20 years old on the date of the examination
  • SPM OR Completed secondary education (Form 5) in a government-aided school
  • Able to write and speak in Bahasa Malaysia

AND

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in handling/operating/assisting to service electrical equipment and controlling live equipment such as service Main Switch Board, Air Circuit Breaker, MCCB, Motor Control Panel Board, 3phase motor, Install & Lay cable etc.
  • Possess a complete logbook based on the 3-year work experience above, which has been validated by the employer and a competent person
  • Possess Employees Provident Fund (EPF) or Social Security Organization (SOCSO) statements as evidence of the 3-year work experience above

OR

  • Possess a Certificate of Competency:
  • Wireman PW1/PW2/P3/P4/P6(MUST REGISTERED WITH SURUHANJAYA TENAGA)
  • Polytechnic Certificate in Electrical Engineering
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in handling/operating electrical equipment and controlling live equipment
  • Possess a complete logbook based on the 2-year work experience above, which has been validated by the employer and a competent person
  • Possess Employees Provident Fund (EPF) or Social Security Organization (SOCSO) statements as evidence of the 2-year work experience above
