In Malaysia, environmental protection and sustainable waste management have become critical areas of focus, particularly regarding water and wastewater management, as well as the recovery of toxic and hazardous waste. The regulation of sludge from wastewater treatment processes and the recovery of hazardous materials are essential for ensuring public health, preserving water quality, and promoting the sustainable use of resources.
Learning Objectives
Understand the Legal Framework: To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and legal frameworks governing the management of sludge in water and wastewater treatment, as well as the recovery and disposal of toxic and hazardous waste in Malaysia. This includes an in-depth study of the Environmental Quality Act 1974, the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005, and other relevant legislation and guidelines.
