Lean is a basic operating philosophy to improve cost, quality and flexibility as well as employee and customer satisfaction. The effective deployment of lean manufacturing strategies is vital to ensure that companies produce top quality products in the most efficient and economical way. This Breaking Boundaries module draws from the expertise and best practices of Osram Opto-Semiconductor, a leading lean manufacturing organization in Malaysia. Participants will be exposed to real-life examples as well as simulation exercises and will be able to demonstrate the integration of Lean and Six Sigma upon completion of this module.
ABOUT THE MODULE SPECIALIST – Mr Lai Kok Cheong
Mr Lai Kok Cheong (KC) is the Director of Manufacturing of Osram Opto-Semiconductor and is responsible for Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Product Engineering, Test Engineering and Lean Deployment in High Volume Assembly and Test Operations. Prior to joining Osram, KC was the Regional Lead Director at Advanced Micro Devices and was responsible for Lean Deployment in Singapore, Penang and China manufacturing facilities. KC has more than 20 years of working experience, ranging from Engineering, Subcon Management, Quality, Business Planning and Project Management, and has worked with people and organizations from the United States, Singapore, China, Thailand, Germany, Japan, Korea and the Philippines. KC holds a Bachelor and a Master degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the United States.
