Introduction to Jig and Fixtures (EMS107)

OBJECTIVES
This course is designed to equip the participants with all the relevant knowledge for cost effective, value driven jig and fixtures design. It is also targeted to develop the design skill and mind set of the participant through active discussion, sharing and challenging of ideas, paradigm shift guided with common industry examples and proven design solutions.

COURSE OUTLINE
Module 1: Principle and Methods in Jigs and Fixture Design
Module 2: Systematic and orderly procedure for jig and fixture design
Module 3: Locating and supporting principles
Module 4: Relationship between work piece locating and clamping
Module 5: Clamping and positioning steps
Module 6: Mechanical methods which are used for transmitting and multiplying forces
Module 7: Types of clamps
Module 8: Materials used in jig and fixtures

METHODOLOGY
The course will be conducted in the form of Workshop, Lectures, Case studies, Practical and Exercises.

Machine operators, technicians and engineers and those who are involved in Design and Interpretation of Mechanical Drawings
